Pork Chop Rice Plate

pork chop rice plate

Ingredients:

  • For the Pork Chops:
    • 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1/2 inch thick)
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce
    • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
    • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger (optional)
    • 1 tablespoon rice wine or dry white wine
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
  • For the Rice Plate:
    • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice or your preferred type of rice
    • 1 cup steamed or stir-fried vegetables (e.g., broccoli, carrots, bell peppers)
    • 1/4 cup pickled vegetables (such as daikon or carrots, optional)
    • Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Pork Chops:
    • In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger (if using), rice wine, and black pepper.
    • Place the pork chops in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for more flavor.
  2. Cook the Pork Chops:
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
    • Remove the pork chops from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off.
    • Place the pork chops in the hot skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the pork chops are cooked through and have a nice golden-brown crust. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
    • Transfer the cooked pork chops to a plate and let them rest for a few minutes.
  3. Prepare the Rice Plate:
    • While the pork chops are cooking, prepare the rice and vegetables. If using leftover rice, reheat it in the microwave or on the stovetop.
    • Steam or stir-fry your vegetables until tender but still crisp.
  4. Assemble the Plate:
    • Place a serving of rice on each plate.
    • Arrange the cooked pork chops on top or beside the rice.
    • Add a portion of steamed or stir-fried vegetables to each plate.
    • Garnish with pickled vegetables, fresh cilantro, or green onions if desired.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve the Pork Chop Rice Plate with a side of dipping sauce or additional soy sauce for added flavor.
  • A simple salad or a small bowl of soup would complement this meal nicely.
